Understanding The Types of Vape Pods

Vape pods are mini vapes that consist of two main parts: a small pod in which the e-juice is contained and the battery. These two elements snap together. Vape pods are typically automatic, meaning you’ll need to drag on them to start the vapour, but some do have power buttons.

But just as there are different types of vape devices, there are variations in the vape pods themselves.

Let’s look at the different options you have when choosing your vape pod.

Exploring The Differences Between Vape Pods

As of 2021, you can expect your vape pod to belong to one of three categories.

Standard Pod System

With this style, you can choose how your vape pod starts, whether that be with the draw or the power button. The standard pod system is generally refillable, accepting replaceable pods.

However, this type of vape pod can be further divided into two categories:

  • Refillable

While this style cannot quite match the ease of the disposable JUUL, they come in a close second, thanks to the flexibility that being refillable provides. This style allows you more freedom in terms of flavour, as you can select different ones once your pod empties. You’ll also find a greater selection of flavours when you’re choosing to refill, as opposed to pre-filled pods.

  • Pre-filled

These are essentially an alternative to JUUL. This type comes pre-filled with e-liquid, so you don’t have to worry about filling it yourself. However, this type cannot be refilled once empty, therefore making it disposable.

This is a good option for beginners, as it eliminates the step of refilling your vape pod and allows you to explore what works for them. However, for the more eco-conscious person, its limited life is less than ideal.

This is a more compact vape pod. It is refillable, accepting pods with replaceable coils. Depending on how often you use your vape pod, you can typically go about a week before needing to replace your coils.

Pod Mod

Pod mods can also technically be considered to be pod AIOs, as they accept pods with replaceable coils as well. However, they are usually much larger and are equipped with a chipset and screen.
